Creative Journey
I'm Maja, a Slovenian artist and surface designer based in southern Austria, originally from the western Slovenian border with Italy — a region known for its layered history, architecture, and artistic heritage.
Growing up surrounded by European cultural influences, I developed an early fascination with art and architecture. These passions, combined with my love for history, antiques, period houses, classical wallpaper and textile design, and my deep admiration for Italian, English and French interior traditions and decorative arts, naturally evolved into my dedication to creating hand‑painted wallpapers and murals.
Artistic Vision
My work is rooted in traditional Chinoiserie painting techniques, but also shaped by the visual heritage of Italian art and fresco traditions.
My designs are hand-painted using gouache, a medium that allows richness, depth, and a soft, elegant finish.
Every piece has its own character. The gentle palette, refined compositions and the atmosphere of my designs, bring a sense of calm, romance and elegance to interiors.
Every wallpaper begins with a personal story or a connection to a place — each design is created to carry meaning and narrative into the spaces it inhabits.
